RO DBT Theory identifies two subtypes of Overcontrolled Behavior: Overly Agreeable & Overly Disagreeable (Lynch, 2018). These subtypes often have different behavioral patterns and social signals they want to shift. Humans are complicated though. It’s also possible that we may display a mix. We might act more overly agreeable in some relationships and overly disagreeable with others (e.g. our immediate family).
